The Graduate School women’s basketball team proudly achieved a 2nd runner up in the recently concluded University of Baguio Intramurals, marking their highest placement to date. This accomplishment is especially significant as the team improved from their 3rd runner up, demonstrating growth, resilience, and determination.
Led by their dedicated playing coach, Cristy Grace Ramilo, the team showcased exceptional teamwork and perseverance throughout the tournament. The roster included standout players Janine Orca, Cora Dogui-is, Karen Biagtan, Jenny Pengyasen, Faith Pae Javier ,Sharmaine Gawongna, Jasmin Catao , Julien Gay Banga-an, and Connie Padilla each of whom contributed their skills and passion to the team’s success . What makes this achievement even more remarkable is that, despite the demanding schedules and academic responsibilities of graduate school, the players consistently found time to practice and actively engage in the intramurals. Their commitment reflects not only athletic excellence but also the discipline and balance required of scholar-athletes. This dedication strongly supports SDG 3: Good Health and Well-Being, as participation in sports promotes physical fitness, mental resilience, and overall wellness. At the same time, their success highlights SDG 5: Gender Equality, showcasing the empowerment of women in sports and their ability to excel in competitive environments while balancing academic responsibilities.

This milestone victory stands as a testament to the Graduate School’s spirit of camaraderie, determination, and pursuit of excellence—both in academics and sports. The team’s success inspires the entire university community, proving that with dedication and teamwork, higher goals can always be reached, while also contributing to the broader vision of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
